About the Role

Join a well-funded, innovative start-up Managing General Underwriter (MGU) specializing in the E&S commercial property market. Our client provides tailored coverage for industrial properties, office buildings, retail storefronts, nursing homes, and habitational risks. We are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded  E&S Commercial Property Program Underwriter to help drive their growth and success.

As an E&S Commercial Property Program Underwriter, you will play a key role in developing and managing the diverse E&S commercial property portfolio. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to this start-up and take on significant responsibility in succession planning.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite E&S commercial property risks
• Analyze risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing
• Develop and maintain relationships with wholesale brokers
• Collaborate with senior management to design and implement new insurance programs
• Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth and innovation
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess performance and identify trends
• Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale brokers and clients to foster business development and retention
• Mentor and develop junior underwriters to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of business operations

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in E&S commercial property, with a focus on industrial properties (optional), offices buildings, retail storefronts, nursing homes, and habitational risks
• Proven track record of success in underwriting and risk assessment within the E&S market
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a start-up environment

Compensation & Benefits

$200,000 to $225,000 + bonus + equity. Succession plan.
